Budget information   Farmingdale Public Library Budget Vote and Trustee Election Information

Budget Vote: Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 7:30pm - 9:00pm

The proposed 2014-2015 budget reflects a tax levy increase of 1.46%. If you have any questions, please call the library at 516-249-9090.

Important Dates

March 7 - Deadline to File Petitions for Library Trustee in the Library Director's Office

March 10 - Absentee Ballots will be Available at the Reference Desk.

March 25 - Board Meeting and Budget Hearing in the Conference Room at 7:00pm

March 25 - Voter Registration at the Library from 4:00pm - 8:00pm

April 8 - Library Budget Vote and Trustee Election

April 8 - Absentee Ballots Must be Completed and Returned by 5:00pm.

Library Taxes

Taxing jurisdictions, such as the library district, establish a budget which determines the tax levy or the amount of money to be raised by property taxes. 

Your library taxes are based on the assessed value of your property multiplied by the library tax rate. All single-family houses in the Farmingdale Library District have a library tax rate of 28.988. 

Go to and click on Property Search to look up your property taxes. 

The following are sample properties within the Farmingdale Library District. 

Sample property: Incorporated Village - Old Style House with Porch
Assessed Value   =  6082013-2014
Library taxes = $176.25 or 48 cents per day.

Sample property:
South Farmingdale - Cape
Assessed Value   =  6432013
2014 Library taxes = $186.39 or 51 cents per day.

Sample property: N. Massapequa - Split

Assessed Value   =  7912013-2014
Library taxes = $229.30 or 63 cents per day.

Sample property:
Massapequa Park - Ranch
Assessed Value   =  6352013-2014
Library taxes = $184.07 or 50 cents per day.

Sample property: Village Colonial

Assessed Value   =  10412013-2014
Library taxes = $301.77 or 83 cents per day.

The Farmingdale Public Library Proposed 2014-2015 Budget has an increase of 1.46% over the 2012 2013 tax levy amount and is less than the allowable tax levy limit as per the NYS Comptroller's tax cap calculation form.
