Library Budget Vote and Trustee Election
April 7 – The library will be holding the budget vote and trustee election on Tuesday, April 7 from    7:30 AM to 9:00 PM at the library.

Library 2020-2021 Budget
This year’s proposed budget reflects a tax levy increase of 1%. All governments including public libraries must calculate the tax levy using a formula provided by the New York State Comptroller’s Office. After completing the tax cap calculation form on the NYS Comptroller’s portal, the library’s proposed tax levy is less than the tax levy increase allowable under the property tax cap law. The
current tax cap limit is 1.81%. Each year the library board of trustees has made a commitment to present a budget to the public to be voted on with a tax levy increase less than the allowable tax cap limit. The library board of trustees will be meeting on March 24 at 6 PM to approve the 2020-2021 proposed budget. All are welcome to attend. For a detailed budget go to our website or if you have any questions, please call the director’s office at 516-249-9010.

Voter Registration:
March 24 – 4 PM – 8 PM at the Library
You are eligible to vote if you have voted at an annual or special district meeting within the last four (4) calendar years. If a voter is registered and eligible to vote under Article 5 of the Election Law, he or she is also eligible to vote at this election. All other persons who wish to vote must register.

Absentee Ballots:
March 17 – Applications for Absentee Ballots will be available at the Library. The application must be completed and returned 7 days before the vote.

Absentee Ballots will be received no later than 5 PM on Tuesday, April 7.

Library Trustee Candidate Petition:
March 9 – The Library Trustee position is a five-year term that begins July 1, 2020 and ends June 30, 2025. Interested candidates must obtain a petition from the Library. The petition must be returned by March 9 and include at least 25 signatures of citizens of the United States, eighteen (18) years of age or over that have resided within Farmingdale Union Free School District for the last thirty (30) days.
