The Farmingdale Public Library has public computers with Internet access for the public to use. You may also bring in your laptop with wireless capability and sit anywhere in the library to connect to the Internet.

How many computers do we have?
There are currently 10 computers available in the computer area, located under the clock on the main floor and 2 computers located in the Teen room for 6th-12th grade.
Who may use the computers?
All adults, and any students in 7th grade and up may use the public computers in the computer area, located under the clock on the main floor. Students in 6th-12 grade may also use the computers in the Teen room. There are currently no computers available in the Children’s library.
How do I sign up? How long can I stay on?
Absolutely. While we generally can’t provide in-depth training, we can provide simple guidance and instruction. If you need assistance, please see our Tech Help person, located in the Tech Help room behind the copy machines. If there is no Tech Help person available, please go to the Reference Desk for help.
Do you have computer classes?
Yes we do. Our Head of Reference librarian, Stuart offers monthly computer classes. Be sure to check out our newsletter for a current list of classes. If you are looking for something more in-depth, Stuart offers one-on-one virtual help as well. To set up an appointment, please contact Stuart at 516-249-9090 ext. 203.
Can I print from the computers? Is there a charge?
Yes. You may print in color or black and white. Before you print, you will need to go to the Circulation Desk and put money on your account. Money is non-refundable.
Printing Fees: $ 0.10 per page for Black and White and $ 0.25 per page for Color. You must go to the Circulation Desk and put money on your account or guest pass before you print. All printing is single-sided. Paper size: 8 ½ x11.
Is a scanner provided?
No. The library does not have a scanner available for public use.
Can I save my work on the computers?
You must use a USB flash drive to save your work or to save a download from the Internet.
Does the library provide e-mail accounts?
We don’t provide accounts; however, using the Internet access that we provide, you can create a free e-mail account using a web-based e-mail provider, such as yahoo.com or gmail.com.
Can I use WiFi in the library?
We do offer a public WiFi network. The network name is FPLWiFi1 or FPLWiFi2. While connected to our network, you must abide by the library’s Internet Policy
Is it secure?
We strive to maintain a safe and secure network. However, the library cannot assure 100% safety of your personal data.
Will I be able to print from my own device?
Yes! We offer wireless printing. For more information on this service and instruction click here.
